2nd Stage Housing for women and children impacted by Intimate Partner Violence is closer to completion.

We’ve got some exciting news to share with you. A few weeks ago, our dedicated team got an exclusive sneak peek and tour of our upcoming 2nd Stage Housing Project, set to be completed by the end of this month. It’s an incredible milestone, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it!

The anticipation has been building as we review applications and interview prospective residents. We’re thrilled to announce that we’re aiming for the first residents to start moving in as early as December 1, 2023. The countdown has officially begun.

During our tour, we explored a range of housing units that will be available to women and their families in Port Alberni who are looking to escape or have been impacted by intimate partner violence. These units include two wheelchair-accessible options, cozy studios, and more spacious units designed for families. Although some final touches are still needed, every unit we visited had a feeling of spaciousness, warmth, and brightness, making it a welcoming sanctuary for those who need it most.

Our newly formed team and program manager have been working endless hours to review applications and connect with potential residents diligently. But here’s the fantastic news: there’s still time to submit an application for Port Alberni’s brand-new 2nd Stage Housing, specially designed for women and children affected by intimate partner violence.

What can participants expect when they become a part of this transformative program? Well, they’ll be able to stay for six-month periods, which can be renewed for up to 18 months. During their time with us, residents will receive crucial support to help them rebuild their lives. 

This support includes but is not limited to, services like crisis intervention, safety planning, financial literacy, and tenancy resources. We’re committed to providing the necessary tools for our residents to take those brave steps toward a brighter future.
