Landscaping is underway at the future location of Port Alberni’s newest 2nd Stage housing project. Sidewalks have been created, along with the planting of boulevard trees, and fencing is underway.
The 22-unit project is being funded by the Building BC: Women’s Transition Housing Fund, and Sage Haven Society hopes to begin operating the newly constructed supported housing project by the end of November 2023. Sage Haven Society’s continued advocacy for short-term housing to provide accommodation and on-site support for women and children has been a priority for many years, and we are excited to see this project so close to completion.
Short-term accommodation of renewable 6-month periods with ongoing support services, including safety planning, parenting support, and crisis intervention, will be available to participants and residents, and applications (found on the Sage Haven Society website) are currently available.
